Irish Siamese Twins Born In London Hospital

Conjoined twin boys have been born in Great Ormond Street Hospital London. The babies are reported to be doing fine. The birth took place six weeks ago.

“Presently, they are feeding well and gaining weight.” The tots were born at University College Hospital and their parents plan to take them home to Ireland, where doctors in Cork will care for them.

There is no news yet as to how the twins are joined but it is believed that they have separate hearts and an attempt will be made to divide them later on in the year.

Parents of the twins while wishing to remain anonymous were said to be delighted at their babies and called them their “little fighters”. They said in a statement: “We are very proud of our two little boys and we feel blessed.

Mr Edward Kiely, a surgeon at Great Ormond Street, said: “If all goes according to plan, the children will return here later in the year.”
