Following the discovery of three dead babies, which had been kept in a freezer for up to two years, The Human Tissue Authority is to inspect Warrington Hospital.

When contacted Catherine Beardshaw, chief executive of the hospital said she was happy for it to go. Ms. Beardshaw said, ‘it will give us a clean bill of health.’

When the bodies were discovered the hospital put it down to an ‘adminstrative error.’ The babies have since been laid to rest an an internal investigation carried out.’

In Britain it is illegal for hospitals to store human tissue without a family’s permission, an issue highlighted in the Alder Hey organ scandal when the Liverpool hospital, over an eight- year period, stripped body parts from babies who died
