Natural Colic Remedies
Posted by admin on July 11th, 2009We seem to have prescription drugs for almost everything, but there is really none for colic so I want to pose the question do babies react positively to natural remedies and I believe the answer is yes.
One of the simplest ones parents can use is music. This is probably the reason why lullabies were invented and those who don’t have a singing voice can get the same thing on compact disc. This should be placed whenever the infant is in the crib, which can help it, sleep comfortably.
There are a variety of herbal remedies that are believed to successfully alleviate colic pain. These include herbal teas, herbal essential oils, and more. The best herbs for colicky babies include catnip, fennel, chamomile, lemon balm, and more. Most towns have a natural food store and you should be able to get more individual advice there. If your town hasn’t got a natural food store then you can always order of the internet, but for products like these I prefer to shop locally.
Aromatherapy has proven to be extremely useful in combating colic and you might like to try it but unless you can talk to a professional about what oils to use it may be best to avoid this path.
The age old remedy for colic is gripe water but not all gripe waters are natural. You must read the ingredients to determine if it is natural or not, again that is the advantage of shopping locally. This herbal remedy works to soothe baby’s pain and discomfort and help the entire family calm down and relax.
Not everyone is a believer in natural remedies but they are reasonably affordable and worth a try.
