Why go to the trouble of making your own baby food when there are so many ready made baby meals available at your local store. Here are five very good reasons for making your own baby food.

Well to begin with baby food that you make yourself is much healthier and much more nutritious. Look at the contents of any commercial baby food and the chances are you’ll find additional salt, sugar, fat, fillers and other completely unnecessary ingredients. The reason the commercial manufacturers include those additatives is that they are attempting to add flavour and texture to what is essential poor quality food.

The second reason I suggest you make your own baby food is that it puts you in control of what your baby eats, not some large commercial organization. Take something as simple as an apple sauce: if you do the preparations yourself you will know exactly what is in the meal, pick up an apple sauce in your local store and read the ingredients. Well try and read them because quite honestly you’d need a degree in food science to make any sense out of the figures given.

I’ve mentioned apple sauce above could anything be easier to make? And that’s my third reason it is easy to make your own baby food. All you need is a food blender and some fresh ingredients to quickly prepare healthy, tasty, home-made meals for your little one. Furthermore, by making large amounts of his/her favourite meals in
advance, and then freezing them for later, you’ll be able to serve up delicious, healthy meals in minutes — every day of the week.

At the time of writing this post the word on every body’s lips is credit crunch – have you looked at the cost of bought baby food. Well believe me it is much cheaper to make your own and well you could put all that extra money into your babies education fund.

Why is baby food so expensive. Well it’s a captive market everybody wants to do well by their new baby and baby food manufacturers have parents brainwashed into thinking that they have no choice but to buy ready made food and by putting a premium price on sub quality food the parent is of the opinion that it’s better than home made – it is not.

The current economic down turn is going to have some very good effects on people. One of those I trust will be that more and more parents will turn to making their own baby food and in the process gave baby a better food and save a pot full of money as well.
