I Want My Mom

Posted by admin on June 12th, 2009

When I was a child the vast majority of men were the breadwinners in the family and dads were the ones that went out to work. Now an awful lot of that has changed it is no longer the norm to consider men as ‘the breadwinners,’ increasingly women are becoming the breadwinners and where it makes economic sense to do so an increasing number of dads are becoming stay at home dads.

As a dad if you are with the kids all day long the will fell secure and protected and there is the great bonuse of developing that strong relationship with them that just didn’t seem to be there in early generations.

Be honest though kids will miss the mom and every so ofter they will openly long for her while she is at work so don’t feel that they are negelecting you or love you more than more; they don’t

The little devils though know a thing or two and now how to play you off against mom one of their chief tactics is to give you a gilt feeling. How do you cope with a child crying ‘my tummey is sore; I want my mommy.’

Well you’ve got to offer the comfort and tell them that mom will be home in a short time; if they know the clock show them on it, maybe you could use a favorite television program as a marker: ‘mum will be home when ….’ Don t try to con your children they react better to the truth and if tell them a fib and they catch on then you’ll have difficulty regaining their trust.

While they may play you off against mom aren’t necessarily rejecting you in favour of mom, they are probably having an off day, or maybe they just haven’t yet gained the necessary language skill to say what they really mean.

Be honest, have you never had an off day? Well why can’t the kids?
